MISSION OF POLISH FORENSIC ASSOCIATION


The Polish Forensic Association is a registered, voluntary, autonomous non-profit organisation, possessing legal personality and carries out its activities in conformity to the Polish Constitution, "Act on Associations" and the legal system of Poland. The name of the Association and its distinguishing graphic mark are proprietary. In 2004, Polish Forensic Association was granted a statute of public benefit organisation.

The aims of Polish Forensic Association are the following:

  • popularise the latest developments in forensic science and related disciplines, to encourage and augment interest in forensic science among members of the public, to spread those developments and achievements in forensic knowledge and practice, whose revealing does not constitute a violation of professional secret or public interest;
  • disseminate achievements in forensic science and related disciplines by organising scientific symposia, convents and conferences, as well as lectures, presentations and trainings, initiate and conduct scientific projects and collaboration in that area with counterpart organisations, develop cooperation and scientific contacts with related organisations and agencies domestically and abroad, particularly within the scope of the EU integration;
  • endeavour activities directly connected with or conductive to prevention and prosecution of prohibited acts and criminogenic phenomena;
  • create and implement standards of delivery of forensic services, set up high scientific level of forensic practice and code of ethics, expand and improve level of knowledge in forensic science, support professional improvement as well as gaining scientific degrees and specialist licences;
  • represent, inform and promote all members of the forensic society or its defined groups, and act in their interests before various subjects, agencies and institutions;
  • conduct activities contributing to economic development, among others by organising various forms of contacts among forensic scientists and practitioners, application of developments in forensic science in economic activity, directing and profiling scientific research; conduct activities aiming at protection of works of culture and art, as well as copyrights, protection of consumer rights, human rights and civil freedoms, as well as women's rights; activities aiming at employment and professional reactivation of the unemployed;
  • conduct various forms of support, subsidiary and other activities for the benefit of groups of persons in hard living conditions or difficult economical situation, discriminated or socially rejected groups, as well as persons originating from criminogenic environments, victims of crimes, citizens that have come in contact with crime and law enforcement organs, perpetrators subject to prevention and re-socialisation activities;
  • conduct other activities or types of activities of non-economic character aiming at fulfilling aims and tasks conformant with the scope of social benefit tasks, as specified in PTK Statutes.
